WHAT TLC HAS BEEN UP TO!
The past two weeks, we have tried to concentrate on painting
and reorganizing the workshop area so it, well, looks updated and is better
organized. Not there yet, but we hope you will like it. There will be a Chalk
Paint® color chart on the wall made out of painted plates and a painted canvas
with all Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint colors! Everyone always loves the
showroom floor, so we just reversed the colors on the workshop floor. Don’t
peek into the storeroom yet – we haven’t touched it! LOL
But we are not done yet and have to get some furniture ready for a commercial shoot, so wait for the big unveiling! Or just stop by the shop to see for yourself.
UPCOMING EVENTS!
We rarely do shows anymore because you, our customers, need
us in the shop to talk to! And we love it. But we have gotten a couple special
requests to attend some new events, so one or two of us will be going. Here
they are:
Springstreet Junkin’
Good Time – Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5 – Grinnell IA – indoor
event!
Carlisle Pickers’ Day
– Saturday September 27! 9 am to 5 pm. We will be doing deminars all day!
Des Moines Home &
Garden Show – 2015. Keep an eye open for a ticket give away when closer to
the event! We are doubling our booth and will be in the main hall with ongoing hands on painting available for all comers!
TIP OF THE MONTH
Make a sample of what
you want your finish to be! To save lots of time and money overall, take a
little bit of time and spend a little bit of product on a sample piece to be
sure your idea translates into the finish you are dreaming of! We do this a lot
of the time – particularly when we are trying something new. And be aware that
not all finishes that are easy to do on a 3”X6” sample board are easy when
tried on a large expanse such as a wall or wardrobe. Does this sound like the
voice of experience? You bet! If at all possible, do your sample on the same
finish you will be painting over. If it is varnish, paint over varnish, raw
wood, formica, etc. You will save yourself a lot of angst! Also remember to
shellac any piece that may bleed through the paint.
Long drive? But need
paint now! -- If it is a couple
hours round trip to our store, do the math and figure out what a trip just for
paint is costing you in time and gas! We can ship to you and you can have next
day delivery at your doorstep in Iowa and most adjacent states. We now offer
flat rate shipping in those areas. If we can have your order packed by 2:30 pm
Monday-Thursday, you will normally get it in 1 day (rarely 2 days). Friday
orders will not arrive til Monday. Weekend orders will arrive Tuesday.
PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS
Stencils &
stencil cremes – New stencils by the dozens. We know some of you work in
advance of holiday shows so we have upcoming holiday stencils such as
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. We’ve added a number of flower
themed stencils by request as well as larger overall stencils for use on walls,
large furniture or floors. We’ve updated our stencil crème stock as well.
Fresh Style Magazine
– Just $8 per issue. The latest version arrive in the shop Thursday. Come and

We now have a purse size container of Body Butter so you can have it with you
anywhere as well as a great lip balm!

Class
Size & Cancellation Policy: We maintain the right to refund your
money or arrange for a different date if we do not have the 3-4 people
necessary to make a class viable. If you
are ill or weather prevents travel, you may reschedule to another date within
six months of the date you originally scheduled. If your plans change, we need
a two-week notice before the class date if you want to be rescheduled. Under
two week,s there is no refund but if your spot is
filled we will allow
you to reschedule, otherwise
your fee is forfeited.
