Chippy Distressed Look - One easy, no fuss way to get that chippy distressed loo with
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is to simply use tape!
Here’s how. For one color distress down to pre-existing varnished wood or other
paint color: Paint one or two coats of your paint color, watering the second
coat. As soon as the paint is dry (don’t let it cure for hours – you want the
paint to be fresh and soft – but dry), apply masking, packing or even duct tape
to an area you want to distress and appear chippy). Press the tape down firmly,
even running a scraper over it so it adheres well; then rip off the tape.
Depending on the underlying surface, paint will be removed in variable, random
way. If you are distressing between two colors of new paint, make sure the
underlying color has cured overnight before applying the second color. Then the
instructions are the same as above. Wax as usual for your finishing coat.

Arrived! In time for

each (we hear other places in town charge $6)! Our large Santa (sheets measure
19 ½ by 29 ½ inches) looks great posted behind a paned glass window. Other

More Finished Furniture! TLC Vintage has a great selection of
painted furniture and décor for your home or as gifts. And, some we haven’t
painted, like a Victorian original small vanity in green with original paint and
embellishments. A charming wall shelf made from an old clock case, a petite
settee with matching side tables – perfect for a bedroom or reading alcove.

New Workshops
Our rollout
of new workshops is still coming soon! Included will be our standard 101
workshop at the beginning of each month. First up will be Stylin’ Stencils – January 14, 2017. The hands on basics for
making your own custom signs, stenciled napkins for your table, decorative
embellishment of furniture and décor. Many of our new workshops will include a
“make and take” project for your home or to use as a gift for someone special.
November 19 & 26 – By popular demand we are bringing
back the JOY workshop for holiday décor. We are offering it two days after
Thanksgiving especially for family groups who may want to come after all the
festivities and turkey. Our large ceiling tile project includes painting,
decoupage, stenciling and crackle – finished off with French gilding wax. Check
out our on-line blog of this newsletter to see photos of this workshop.

Clay County Fair, Spencer, IA
September 17 & 18 -- 10 am and 3 pm each day at the Creative Living Center. TLC
Vintage will team up with JH Design Studio of Laurens, Ia to do four
presentations at the Greatest County Fair in the World. If you are at Okoboji
or in NW Iowa that weekend, we will be demonstrating the versatility of Chalk
Paint® to transform your kitchen cabinets, furniture, upholstery or even
your cowgirl boots. Stop by to see us and pick up your hand-held paper fan and
materials. Book classes or order paint at a special discount or gift on your
purchases.

Fairgrounds Varied Industries Building, November 11 - 13 – Yes, we will be there for the
fifth consecutive year! Teaming up like
last year with Oak Hill Emporium (formerly William Holcomb Antiques), we will
present Holiday Vintology. Painted furniture, vintage décor, holiday décor and
more! This is where you buy your Chalk Paint®, gilding wax, German
Glitter Glass and more for your holiday décor and crafts. A wide range of
vintage inspired papers along with rust and crust and some stately pieces too!
Bill has some very amazing oversized rustic clocks planned for this outing.
Such a Hit!
Wednesday Open Workshop – People have been lining up for our
newest concept to help you get started with a project or teach you a specific
new technique. Anytime from 10 am to 3 pm, you can prebook as much time as you
think you may need to work in our workshop with our supervision. Projects must
be small – something you can lift with one hand and fit onto the backseat of
your car. You pay just $20 per hour to use our tools and have on-the-project
direction. Paint and paint products you
used will just be charged retail for the amount you use. So you don’t need to
purchase a whole container of paint or decoupage or whatever – just pay for
what you use and not have leftovers you won’t use! Call to book and discuss
time it will take and to be sure your project works for us as well as you!

Custom Painting
TLC Vintage Services – Most people
don’t think of us as a custom painting stop – but we certainly are. If a piece
can be brought to our shop, we will paint it to order. We charge a reasonable hourly
rate and materials charge. So if you know someone uneasy about undertaking
their own paint job, we will handle it for them.

Cancellation
and No-show Policy: We
maintain the right to refund your money or arrange for a different date if we
do not have the 3-4 people to make a
class viable. If you are ill or weather prevents travel, you may reschedule to
another date within six months. If your plans change, we need a two-week notice
before the class date if you want to be rescheduled. Under two week,s there is
no refund but if your spot is filled we will allow you to reschedule, otherwise
